With automotive manufacturers looking to reduce chassis weight, aluminum has been the material many are turning to. Aluminum replacement parts can achieve up to a 50 percent weight reduction over other conventional materials.

Higher Mechanical Properties

Produces castings with higher strength, superior mechanical properties, incredible elongation results with better material integrity due to controlled, uniform metal flow and reduced turbulence.

Eliminate Porosity

Counter Pressure Casting eliminates porosity by applying constant pressure throughout the solidification process, preventing gas bubbles from forming. This Results in high quality castings with fewer defects such as porosity, shrinkage, and inclusions.

Tranquil Filling Process

The applied Counter Pressure on the molten metal front as it fills the mold ensures a smooth and tranquil filling process, effectively preventing splashing, turbulence, and air entrapment.”

CPC Boost for better feeding

CPC operates at higher casting pressures (from 2 to 5+ bar) then convention low pressure and can apply additional “boost” pressure during feeding to improve feeding in shrinkage-prone areas.

Excellent Fatigue Life

CPC significantly enhances fatigue life by producing parts with minimal porosity and superior structural integrity. The controlled solidification and high-pressure environment result in denser, more uniform castings that have excellent fatigue life results.

Higher Yield

Minimizes material waste as the pressure control allows for precise mold filling, reducing excess metal in the filling/feeding riser and ensuring optimal usage of materials.

Thin-walled Complex Components

Engineers can design more complex and precise parts with sand-cores. Thinner sections, intricate details, and reduced weight, which is particularly valuable for automotive and aerospace applications.

Consistent Repeatable Results

The pressure differential and precise control over filling, feeding and solidification allows for consistent, repeatable results, even in complex geometries.

When is CPC most beneficial?

  • When High Strength is Needed
  • When Greater Fatigue Life is required
  • When High Tensile and Yield Strength is required
  • When High Elongation Results combined w/ Strength
  • High Yield
  • Repeatability
  • High or Low Volume
  • Large Structural Castings
  • Safety Critical Castings

Application

  • Safety Critical Chassis Components
  • Structural Castings
  • Car Wheels
  • Marine
  • Aerospace
  • Medical
  • Motorcycle Wheels
  • Subframes
  • Cylinder Heads

CPC is able to maintain the mechanical properties and ductility of the part, showing little variation even in mass production. This innovative technology, combined with its efficient and highly productive casting machinery, make it the best choice for aluminum chassis parts production. Major automobile manufacturers worldwide are taking advantage of CPC’s tried and proven process.
